Amazon.com Review Playing X-Men: Next Dimension requires looking at the moves menu. A lot. If you're the kind of person who likes to memorize lists of moves--maybe even finds it fun as it gives you a sense of accomplishment--this game is for you. If you just want a game to play with some friends without cramming as if for an exam, you'd be better off with another fighting title. But who doesn't love the X-Men? They're all represented here. The biggies (both good and bad): Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, and Cyclops, plus Magneto, Mystique, and Sabretooth. Other favorites also made the cut, including Gambit, Nightcrawler, and Forge. The backgrounds are terrific, and in a particularly impressive design element, you can drift into other landscapes from your original map. For example, if, while fighting from inside Dr. X's mansion, you throw your opponent out the window, you'll find yourself outside on the garden map. It's a good trick, and it almost makes the load time between games reasonable (rematches are quick, but reloads that change environments are painfully slow). Each character has their own special "super meter" attacks, all of which befit the mutant power detailed in the comic books. Playing one-on-one with friends in versus mode, you can calibrate your character so practiced players have less energy for a more balanced game. These touches are appreciated. So while it's not as addictive as Tekken or any similar benchmark game, X-Men: Next Dimension still has appeal, with a reasonably well-thought-out game design and endearing character elements. --Jennifer Buckendorff Pros: - Plenty of fan pleasers, including the chance to unlock good-old-days yellow and blue costumes
- Really cool combo attacks, unique to each character
- Voice work by Patrick Stewart
Cons: - Requires serious memorization of moves
Product Description X-Men: Next Dimension plunges players into a powerful enemy's plot to rid the world of mutants. Leaving traditional section-based fighting games in its wake, X-Men: Next Dimension is the only console fighter game that carries epic superhero showdowns across expansive 3-D levels. Players fight as 20 different X-Men characters (plus four secret characters to be unlocked) through interactive environments, replete with combat-induced damage.

X-men Next Dimension August 13, 2007 Marcus K. Petry Good game for what it is and the time that it was made. I think the cinemas are neat to view, the ones you unlock as you play are even cooler. the unlockable players add a bit more to the game also. I wish these characters were in an actual adventrue game with these abilities and the way they look, that would rock even more. plus i get to play with my favorite character 'the pheonix" and her more powerful and vengeful counterpart "the dark phoenix". I'm thinking there should be a game that chronicles, the phoenix's rise in Jean and protecting the M'kron crystal.......and maybe the rise and taming of the dark phoenix, I'd pay a couple of hundred dollars for that one.
A Fun Game February 20, 2007 David A. Smith (Webberville, Mi, USA) this is a pretty fun game. the look of the x-men characters is diffrent but thats okay. it's enjoyable and entertaining. The character i like most to play is Juggernaut, because he's practically unstoppable. this was a fun game i recomend it.
The Truth about X-Men Next Dimension... May 28, 2006 Lord Sidious (The Shadows) Well lets see here... I found X-Men Next Dimension to be better than the previous X-Men fighter games. This is of course because we are talking PSX 1 to PSX 2. Other than this the game itself was decent, for a fighter title that is.
Although fighter titles are not my favorites I did find this game entertaining even though it became slow and sluggish as I went on. The reason I gave this game a mediocre rating is becaue it is mediocre by nature. This game could have been so much more and it wasn't, I'd suggest renting before buying hands down. Still it could be worse... it could have been Silent Hill 4: The Toilet! :)
Absolutely Awesome ( really)! February 14, 2005 T. Zinkle (east TN) My brother wanted me to buy this game because he thought it looked cool. I bought it and loved it right away. This game has more than fifteen characters!!!! I think my favorite would be Blob(who you have to unlock). The only thing bad about this game is that my favorite mutants(Apocalypse and Pyro) aren`t in it. However, this has a wide variety of choices for villians. One of my favorite is Lady Deathstrike who can stab anyone with her adamantium claws. In
most x-men games they make Sabretooth look like a clown, but now they made him like a cool character. I will name six characters. Magneto, Dark Phoenix, Bishop, Gambit, Toad, and Bastion. I absolutely love this game!
Entertaining December 30, 2004 Jayde (Utah USA) First off I must say I was indeed impressed with this game. I had played the ones before it and they were lacking and dull. The fighting in this game is interesting and refreshing. The aerial combos are highly entertaining and fun to pull off. This game is fun for hours and has a nice 3-D enviornment that allows you to throw opponents throught walls and through holes. It's a nice way to do a little extra damage and change enviornments.
The characters faces look a bit distorted though and could have used some extra work.
