Product Description In Spider-Man, you get to feel the action of being Spider-Man, the world-famous hero -- and you go beyond the adventure you see in the film! Sharpen your skills to the point where you can face off against your nemesis, the Green Goblin!
Amazon.com Review Spider-Man: The Movie brings your friendly neighborhood web slinger to life with engrossing realism, proving that a superhero game of such complex nature can be achieved with nearly flawless and nonintrusive gameplay. Be it wandering the city's environs in search of villains, or just checking out your surroundings by web-swinging high above them, you truly can do whatever Spider-Man can. It's all here: high-flying aerial battles, the ability to web up and yank your enemies close for pummeling, and the capacity for crawling or web-zipping up, down, and over any surface--and that's just for starters. All in all, this is one involved game that does not fail to live up to the hype. The game parallels the motion picture's story line, steering you through a progression of challenges that begins with the hunt for Uncle Ben's murderer, and ends with a final showdown with the Green Goblin. You begin as Peter Parker dressed in his wrestling costume and must defeat a variety of thugs throughout each level before advancing to the next set of challenges. The game gets progressively tougher as you encounter, in turn, Shocker, the Vulture, Scorpion, and, of course, the Green Goblin. Visually, Spider-Man is a treat: cityscapes unfold in realistic detail and are enhanced by sunlight shining between buildings; cutscenes offer seamless animation; interiors are painstakingly re-created; and Spider-Man and his enemies are well rendered, moving about the screen in clean fashion. As an added bonus, most characters are voiced by their movie counterparts, and the training mode features the sarcastic wit of Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell. --Larry White Pros: - Detailed controls bring Spider-Man to life
- Challenging gameplay enhanced by numerous fight styles
- Stunning visuals at every level
Cons: - Camera angles slow to respond at times
- Some interiors too dark
- Repetitive one-liners
Note: This review refers to the PlayStation2 version of this game.
Amazon.com Product Description Spider-Man: The Movie allows fans to play as Spider-Man in several highly detailed 3-D environments inspired by the Columbia Pictures/Marvel Entertainment live-action feature film (due for release in May of 2002). This full-roaming action-adventure game allows players to jump into the suit of a fledgling Marvel superhero and learn how to battle the forces of evil. Players crawl, leap, and swing from the dizzying heights of skyscrapers to catch criminals and supervillains, and, ultimately, come face-to-face with the Green Goblin in a death-defying display of aerial combat. During the course of the game, players must use Spider-Man's spider-sense, agility, quick wits, and strength to evade the pursuit of the bad guys and overcome obstacles.

And I Was Really Looking Forward To This Too... August 31, 2009 Veil_Lord (San Jose, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Play as Spider-man, with all these intense features
*A big outside world you can look at and the small portion you can actually visit.
*Swing through the skies with the speed of Granny on the porch swing.
*Try to chase villains who are much faster than you.
*Play chase levels against them over and over and over again until you memorize where they're going, because your maximum speed is far to slow to possibly catch them directly.
*Die instantly if you ever even think of touching the ground.
*Play mostly inside levels. It's silly to play outside...doing what he's actually famous for.
*Enjoy a series of short painful levels where your death to a boss means re-doing 15 mins work.
*Now add stealth to those missions.
Rock on!
And...Introducing the most challenging foe ever in a video game. The game camera! Yes, you too can try to fight dozens of villains, some shooting at you, without actually being able to see any of them! Die yet again from a gunshot that you couldn't see and had no chance to avoid anyway. Use the wicked awesome lock-on feature that keeps the camera focused on your villain...except when it randomly refuses to work. Cool!
But wait! There's more! Order now and we'll let the camera angle randomly change your controls and send you in a different direction than you wanted! It's Spider-tastic!

I'm a big fan of Spider-man games, going way back. Maximum Carnage was one of my favorites on the old Sega Genesis and I really loved the PS1 Spider-man which uses a similar engine. Here you do get Spider-man, and yes there's decent production value to the game, but it has a lot wrong with it. I found it a chore to play on Hero mode so I could unlock the Goblin and at least then I could play through again with a decent character. Adding the Goblin and giving a storyline was just an incredibly cool idea.
The camera is easily the worst I've ever seen in any game and the voice acting, with the exception of Bruce Campbell during the tutorial, sounds like nobody wants to be there recording it. Toby especially, he just kind of sounded tired reciting his lines.
The only reason I gave this even 2 stars is because you can unlock Goblin which is a cool idea if nothing else. Yeah, you can play this game, but a lot of other games are better. It seems many people disliked the game, but I liked Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects better than this. You might give it a try.
If you only have a Gamecube and have few choices in Spider-man games, get this (if it's cheap), but it's just not the greatest Spider-man game out there.
A Fun Game! June 21, 2009 I've had this game for about 21 months now, and it's still fun but sometimes I turn off the Game Cube when I feel like playing something else. I remember the first time when I rented this game a few years ago, I was like wow, this game is so much fun!
Pros.
- You can unlock the wrestling suit and Peter Parker by completing the game on easy, Alex Ross Spiderman suit on normal, and the Green Goblin on hard
- The Graphics are great
- The Green Goblin battles are great
- I love the cool attacks
- You can play as the Green Goblin
Cons.
- The levels where you are in Oscorp are very challenging
- For the outdoor levels in the game, you can't go where ever you want in the city, only in the area you are in
- When you web swing in the city, its weird that your webs are attached to the sky
But for the most part, I recommend you to buy this game. You'll have fun!
Spiderman The Movie Nintendo DS October 5, 2007 L. Straub (west michigan) Great game! My 4yr. LOVES it! Plays it almost every day! The graphics are really nice and there are 3 levels (easy, med, hard), so he can play it differently as he gets older. Good buy!
I really wanted to give this game a higher rating, but it did not deserve a higher rating March 26, 2006 Super Cool (Michigan) Spider-Man the Movie game for Game Cube had the potential to be great, but falls short due to the fact that Spiderman is a wimp and a sucka that can be beaten up by a street thug in this game. By the way, I have had to write this review more than once as it seems like my previous review has been accidentally deleted or something of the sort so I am going to keep it short this time. The game follows only parts of the movie and has a few additional supervillians: Shocker, Scorpion, and Vulture. These additional villians are a good thing since they make the game new and refreshing from the movie. Spiderman is one of the best 3D designed models out there and the movie-like cinematics are fantastic. Play this game on Normal difficulty and everything is fine, but play it on Superhero difficulty and it is atrochious. The enemies on Superhero difficulty seem to have a constant lock on Spiderman even when Spiderman is attached to a ceiling way above them and they cannot see him. Plus, three hits or so from an ordinary street thug and Spiderman's health reaches zero. It is a bunch of crap. This matter is only made worse by the fact that Spiderman's combos are much less effective on Superhero difficulty than on Normal difficulty. The camera angles during web-swinging particularly when you have to make tight turns while chasing an enemy are atrocious at times. Spiderman can unlock oodles of three-button combos in this game, but only a few of them are actually effective, especially in the final fight against the Green Goblin. And I found at least one case in which a combo was identical to another combo with completely different buttons and name. I doubt that this crap with identical combos is a gliche that simply occurred on my Spiderman copy that I purchased from Sam Goody for $20. Spiderman has no sort of fighting skills in this game because he is a wimp and a sucka in this game. Spiderman does have some cool abilities though like web-zipping and web tactics such as the web dome and impact webbing. This game was still fun while it lasted, but it also was far from the spectacular game it could have been. By far my favorite Spiderman games are Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety on the Sega Genesis. Nintendo, Sega, or whoever should remake these games for the Game Cube as I would be willing to pay $50 or more for these games. However, please do not come out with some port of a Sega Genesis game.
Pathetic May 4, 2005 MaDD HaDDer (Vernon, AL) This game isn't nearly worth what I payed for it. The camera for the game is backwords and you can't fix it, and it has other camera glitches that get very irritating. I decided to get a cheat so I could play the last level instead of wasting my time, but five minutes looking for the cheat wasn't worth playing the last level. I beat spider-man 1 for the playstation 1 at least 7 times and I would recommend it instead of spider-man the movie if you have a playstation 1. (...)
