Amazon.com Review The book that started the phenomenon is now available in a deluxe collector's edition! Featuring a ribbon bookmark, cloth cover, ragged edges, new chapter opener designs, and a beautiful protective slipcase, this edition is perfect for fans and collectors alike.
Bella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Bella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Bella, the person Edward holds most dear.
Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.
Product Description "Softly he brushed my cheek, then held my face between his marble hands. ''Be very still,'' he whispered, as if I wasn''t already frozen. Slowly, never moving his eyes from mine, he leaned toward me. Then abruptly, but very gently, he rested his cold cheek against the hollow at the base of my throat. " As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. In Twilight, an exquisite fantasy by Stephenie Meyer, readers discover a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because--he''s a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship.Meyer has achieved quite a feat by making this scenario completely human and believable. She begins with a familiar YA premise (the new kid in school), and lulls us into thinking this will be just another realistic young adult novel. Bella has come to the small town of Forks on the gloomy Olympic Peninsula to be with her father. At school, she wonders about a group of five remarkably beautiful teens, who sit together in the cafeteria but never eat. As she grows to know, and then love, Edward, she learns their secret. They are all rescued vampires, part of a family headed by saintly Carlisle, who has inspired them to renounce human prey. For Edward''s sake they welcome Bella, but when a roving group of tracker vampires fixates on her, the family is drawn into a desperate pursuit to protect the fragile human in their midst. The precision and delicacy of Meyer''s writing lifts this wonderful novel beyond the limitations of the horror genre to a place among the best of YA fiction. (Ages 12 and up)

twilight November 20, 2008 this is book was amazing and it captured the way love is supposed to feel and the way that love is free and dangerous all at the same time!!! i have never liked love stories but this one i am very happy i read....
A tension filled love story!!!!!!!!!! November 20, 2008 This book was recommended to me. I didn't want to read it until I saw the movie trailer. Now I can't put it down. I have stayed up late wanting to know what happens next. If you like a good love story with alot of surprises you will love this book. I love the banter between Edward and Bella.
Writing, Living, Experiencing November 20, 2008 It is very hard for me to criticize this book just for the simple fact that i can determine from this work that it was written for the author more so than the audience. As an audience I have sooooo many questions. I have a feeling though that the lack of depth in the characters is just Meyer's way of probably continue with the Saga. I am quite sure that we will see more books that describes more the individual characters. When it comes to the love story between Bella and Edward, at first i thought it was strange that it developed sooo fast but then, no one questioned Romeo and Juliet's love story. Everyone seems to be raving Shakespeare's geniousness. I seriously dislike Shakespeare especially Romeo and Juliet but it is one story that is taught over and over again. Twilight on the other hand has the supernatural edge to it. You can believe clearly that Edward's senses and emotions are heighten much more than the average human and Bella being shy and never having a niche can be swept away easily. I think Meyer did a good job in trying to demonstrate that she did struggle with her decision with Edward, especially when she acknowledge that she is in love with Jacob. This book is a great book, it is a great love story and i am incline to put it ahead of the Romeo and Juliet love story. I know who Bella is to a certain extent. although as a woman I identify mostly with Edward, I do know to a certain extent who Bella is and Meyer did a decent job with the story. I know it is a mix review. I am hoping to see more from Meyer regarding this saga.
best vampire book since Anne Rice's trilogy November 20, 2008 Being a generation X-er, I was enticed and enthralled by Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire. This is the best vampire book I've read since then. The movie probably won't do justice to Meyer's description of Edward and his effect on Bella. The book moves at a steady pace without dragging on, the characters are believable and the ending gets you ready for "New Moon". I like how Bella is fearless and fearful at the same time and Edward is enigmatic without being hokey. Can't wait for the movie!
Amazingly Apathetic About Twilight November 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I picked up Twilight when my daughter brought it home from the library. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about with the pro-Twilighters; it was just okay. I did not feel like I was reading a 'greatest love of all time' type of book.
I did grow weary of the number of times the author described how amazing Bella smelled to Edward, and how many times Edward's beauty was reiterated with cliched terms (Adonis being just one of many).
Although I understand that this is the first book in a series, I was quite underwhelmed with the anti-climactic ending.
